Mata'a

An obsidian crescent with hafting stem, crescents edge is flaked to sharpness or serrated. These were traditionally considered weapons, though its true function is unknown.

Obsidian Tools

Obsidian fragments which show evidence of wear and use-damage.

Adzes

Flaked and ground basalt tools, hafted to wooden handles.

Coral Fragments

Most with ground surfaces indicative of abrading tools.

Taheta

Pecked, circular depressions in basalt boulders, generally thought to be water catchment basins.

Hammerstones

Made of fine-grained basalt, used to flake obsidian and basalt.

Paenga

Individual stone slabs, formerly of habitation structures, not associated with other features.

 

Grinding Stones

Basalt slabs with ground or polished surfaces.
