Manavai.
This manavai is located 265 degrees to the coastal ahu
(F 48) and 245 degrees to the fallen moai (F 39). The rear wall of the
construction on the north and east side is a natural rock outcropping with
a maximum height of 1.35m. The southwest walls are made of stones placed
on top of natural rock formations. The front wall has mostly collapsed.
Four poro are within the structure.
The manavai has access to a small rock shelter below. A
large 80cm by 80cm flat stone is located at the southeast edge of the manavai.
A natural gorge is located approximately 20m to the south, where another manavai is found. The presumed planting area is 5.5m wide by 3m
deep. The floor of the manavai
appears to be significantly lowered (it gains no more than a 1m in height
from front to rear-the natural hillside gains about 2 m over the same
distance). |
