| Manavai or Hare Moa? This
feature is a rock pile/cluster that may represent a disturbed hare
moa or a disturbed manavai.
The feature measures north south about 11m and east west about 7.5m.
The rock size varies, ranging from those measuring 75cm by 45cm and
25cm by 20cm. The stones comprising this feature appear to be unmodified,
with a few possible exceptions. There are no poro
present. A few stones (two found on surface) show semi-circular carving,
perhaps used to form the small entryway typical of hare moa
structures elsewhere on the island. We did not record any obsidian,
midden, or other artifacts. This
feature is located 78m at 128 degrees from of the base of the fallen moai
(F 39). |
