Caves and associated umu. B- Cave 1. This is a small rockshelter, 1.5m at the base of the entrance. The cave is less than one meter high throughout its length, and continues about two meters. Associated artifacts include coral fragments, a possible hammer stone, an obsidian flake, and an unidentified animal bone. There is also charcoal present. The cave opens at an orientation of 319 degrees. C- Cave 2. This is a sheltered cave, with the opening facing 294 degrees. The over hanging rockshelter opening is 2.5m wide and averages 80cm high. The interior of the cave is about 30m deep and about 6 m across. The north side of the cave opening has a stacked stone wall. Associated artifacts include poro, an obsidian artifact, and a possible grinding stone. |
