Assistant Professor, Position No. 83004, College of Social Sciences, Department of Anthropology, University of Hawai`i, Manoa, full-time, 9-month, tenure-track position in cultural anthropology, with specialization in medical anthropology, beginning August 1, 2008. Medical anthropology is conceived broadly and inclusively as the investigation of culture, society, biology, health, and illness. Theoretical and research interests should complement and engage current faculty strengths.

Duties: Teach undergraduate and graduate courses; supervise graduate students; seek extramural funding and maintain an active research program; publish research results; assist in the development of the Medical Anthropology Concentration; actively engage in departmental governance and activities; advance the University's reputation for global studies.

Minimum Qualifications: PhD in anthropology; evidence of scholarly achievement including 1) publications; and 2) ongoing research in Medical Anthropology.

Desirable Qualifications: Evidence of extramurally-funded research; experience, or interest to develop research, in the Pacific and Asia.

Salary Range: Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
