Neal Akatsuka Receives Anthropology Awards

UH Anthropology undergraduate student, Neal Akatsuka, has received several local and national awards recognizing his achievements as an advanced student in anthropology this year:

1) Research Corporation of the University of Hawaii (RCUH) Student Excellence in Research Award. Given by the University Research Council, University of Hawaii

2) XXXV National Lambda Alpha Scholarship Award. Given by the Lambda Alpha National Collegiate Honors Society for Anthropology.

3) 2010 William Whit Undergraduate Prize, for paper entitled "Haunting Erotics of Gastronomic Desire as Bodily Penetration: Consuming Genetically Modified Food in Japan." Given by the Association for the Study of Food and Society (ASFS).

4) Presidential Scholar Award. Given by the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, Harvard Universit
