Subfields

At the University of Hawai'i at Mānoa, the Department of Anthropology is strongly
committed to critical inquiry, advocacy and educational outreach. We pursue
comparative and holistic studies of human communities, past and present, through a four-field approach:

• Archaeology
• Cultural Anthropology
• Linguistic Anthropology (see Discursive Practices)
• Physical Anthropology

Note that Specializations within the Department can and do cross-cut the subfields.
