Anthropology Special Events Room
The Anthropology Special Events room provides a place for social and program activities of Anthropology students and faculty. For example, after the Departmental Colloquia, or after student MA or PhD Defense meetings, or other occasions it provides a venue for informal gathering and academic discussion. It is also the location of meetings for various Anthropology organizations, such as the Anthropology Graduate Student Association (AGSA). It is located in Saunders Hall 326, directly across from the Department Main Office. It has a microwave, refrigerator, coffee pot, student mail boxes and couches, as well as bins for paper recycling. (Plastic, glass and aluminum recycling bins are located next to the elevators). Grad students are expected to take turns cleaning this room, which includes emptying the paper recycling into the first-floor bins and cleaning out the refrigerator every month. AGSA manages a small Honor Bar selling a variety of delicious snacks at low cost in the Special Events Room. The proceeds from the Honor Bar benefit AGSA activities and events. At the end of the semester students often leave stuff they don’t want on the free-stuff-table, so sometimes you can score from these freebies (usually, books and office supplies). The redecoration of this space is one of AGSA’s current projects.
